![]() ![]() ![]() While viewing a township, the game closes in and provides a more exanimate look at the inner workings of said town. When viewing the main screen of the game, you’re treated to colorful, lush islands be washed by a pounding sea. Ship-to-ship combat feels a little rough and unresponsive as well. It always feels like you’re still getting used to it. This rarely has a chance to get disproven, as the game never picks up nearly enough pace to make the player completely comfortable OR uncomfortable with the controls. Other than that, the controls feel pretty decent. The expected “A” button will perform most actions, since most actions are simply confirmations of choice. That’s why Kalypso opted to make the controls as simple (albeit infuriating at times) as possible. It’s not every day that you get to take command of a ship at high seas, especially in the video game world. ![]() Again, I said “might.” Port Royale 3 is the latest installment in the franchise, but practice doesn’t make perfect this game is monstrous. Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants is the latest from Kalypso, and if you’ve a taste for some trading and seafaring action, one might find higher enjoyment from this title.
